Abstract
Authors must include an abstract with every article submission.  Because of the extended use of the ACM Digital Library and the need to have accurate information for search engines, abstracts should be lucid and concise, highlighting the essential points of the article.  The length of the abstract should be between fifty and one hundred words.  (The length of this abstract illustration, including this sentence, is sixty-seven words.)

Categories and Subject Descriptors

Starting with the 2007 December issue of inroads, all articles must include a Category and Subject Descriptors and defined by the ACM Computing Classification Scheme.  An example is as follows.

D.3.3 [Programming Languages]: Language Contructs and Features---abstract data types, polymorphism, control structures.

Please use the correct category and subject descriptors for your submission as they are necessary for digital libraries and search engines.   Consult the ACM Computing Classification Scheme at http://www.acm.org/class/1998/ for more details.

General Terms

Your general terms must be any of the following sixteen designated terms: Algorithms, Management, Measurement, Documentation, Performance, Design, Economics, Reliability, Experimentation, Security, Human Factors, Standardization, Languages, Theory, Legal Aspects, Verification.  Choose these terms carefully as they are necessary for digital libraries and search engines.

Keywords
Keywords are your own designated words.  Please supply between three and five keywords related to your article. Choose these words carefully as they are necessary for digital libraries and search engines.

1.  INTRODUCTION

These guidelines serve as a model for the manner in which you are to make submissions to inroads - the SIGCSE Bulletin. They describe the mode, format, and layout of all materials as the Editor-in-Chief should receive them. Please be sure to submit material according to these specifications. The ACM has entered a new phase - the electronic phase - in which it presents all publications. For this reason, and for practical editorial reasons, authors must make all submissions to inroads according to the guidelines specified below.

2.  DOCUMENT LAYOUT

Documents must conform to the following specifications.

2.1  Fonts
The Title of the document must be in 16-point bold Arial or Helvetica in mixed-case font. The total length of a title must be less than ten words.
The Name(s) of author(s) is(are) in 12-point bold Arial or Helvetica.
Information about author(s) must appear in 9-point Arial or Helvetica and must include complete postal and electronic addresses for all authors as shown above.
The Body of the document must be in 10-point Times New Roman throughout.

2.2  Layout
Set paper size to Letter (8.5" by 11"). Use 0.75 inch for left and right margins; use 1.0" for top and bottom margins. Use left justification throughout. Present the body of the article in two-column format, each 3.33", with a 0.34" separator.

2.3  References
All references used within the document and the description of citations must conform to the style currently used in the Communications of the ACM or similar publication.

2.4  General
Avoid the use of uncommon electronic features in documents such as special styles or automatic templates. Separate sentences with double spaces. Place paragraphs following headers in block style; subsequent paragraphs are to have the first line indented at 0.25".

3.  ARTICLE LENGTH

Articles considered for publication in inroads should not exceed three thousand words and should not exceed five pages including diagrams, tables, images, and other features.

4.  SUBMISSION PROCESS

The form of the article must be in the current version of MS Word or the current version of WordPerfect.

4.1.1  Other Formats

For those using environments other than Word or WordPerfect, please make the required conversion before submission. No other electronic format will be accepted at this time.
