SIGCSE Awards for 2026

The SIGCSE Board is honored to announce the 2026 ACM SIGCSE Award winners:

• The 2026 SIGCSE Award for Outstanding Contribution to Computer Science Education is awarded to Richard E. Ladner, Professor Emeritus, Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Washington, USA.

• The 2026 SIGCSE Award for Distinguished Service to the Computer Science Education Community is awarded to Paul Tymann, Professor Emeritus, Rochester Institute of Technology, USA.

• The 2026 SIGCSE Award for Broadening Participation in Computing Education is awarded to Bethany Edmunds, Associate Dean of Computing Programs and Teaching Professor at Khoury College of Computer Sciences, Northeastern University, USA.

• The 2026 ACM SIGCSE Test of Time Award is awarded to the paper Online Python Tutor: Embeddable Web-Based Program Visualization for CS Education by Philip J. Guo, In Proceedings of the 44th ACM Technical Symposium on Computer Science Education, Association for Computing Machinery, New York, NY, USA, 579-584. DOI Link

The Outstanding Contribution, Distinguished Service, and Test of Time awards will be recognized at the 2026 SIGCSE Technical Symposium in St Louis, Missouri, USA, 18 Feb - 21 February 2026. The Broadening Participation award will be recognized at the 2026 31st Annual ACM Conference on Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education (ITiCSE) in Madrid, Spain, 13-15 July 2026.
